About Import and Export Code
Any business involved in the import and export of goods is required to obtain an IEC Certificate without exception.
The Import Export Code (IEC) is a unique license, linked to the PAN number, with permanent validity. It is issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) to authorize businesses to conduct import and export activities legally.
Importers cannot legally proceed with importing goods without this code. Similarly, exporters without an IEC cannot export goods or claim benefits under export incentives provided by the DGFT, Customs, or the Export Promotion Council.
